At The Farm

Hey guys! I thought I'd do a little update about all of our animals and how they're doing! When we sold the tiny house we had like 8 chickens... none of them were very healthy and so they laid eggs  sporadically, it just wasn't going well so we sold them when we moved. After months in the new house, of project after project we're finally able to focus on other things like this.

So when we decided to start getting ready for chickens again there was (randomly) a chance to get 20+ chickens and ducks for nothing we just had to catch them and by we, I mean Brandon... and that's just what he did! So now we have 19 hens and 1 rooster. We also have 3 ducks, a pygmy goat, a pit bull and 4 baby chicks!

This white hen is named Pancake. Guess who came up with that. This one was torn up quite a bit when she came to us but she's healing nicely and has started laying large brown eggs almost everyday.

Our Boston Terrier, Daisy died recently and Milo, our pit bull, is always missing his playmate. Lupe, the goat, is constantly trying to head butt him and he's never amused by it but sometimes I'll catch him playing with her. It's hilarious!

This is 1 of 4 chicks. I went to the feed store and Rue saw the baby chicks and almost lost her mind. I had no business buying more chickens, I know, but I did! Rue held the box in her lap the whole way home saying "Momma, babies are singing..." She couldn't wait to show Gemma. They wake up every morning and ask to go and check on the "baby chickies..." so sweet.

This afternoon when I walked out to the coop I spotted and egg on the ground which is less than ideal, of course but can mean that it's a new layer, much to my surprise the egg was blue! I'm thrilled. I can't say we're saving any money by keeping chickens for eggs but it's so much fun to take care of them and teach the kids how to as well...

I've been away from the blog for ages and I haven't felt any urgency to start writing and sharing again but I do miss documenting our day to day life and sharing cute things happening with the kids. My best friend is getting married next week and my family will all be together again for the first time in months so I'll have lots to share soon!

Thanks for stopping by!
XOXO
Miranda
