Mid-Week Gratitude Pause

This year has flown by. It feels like it was just last November and we realized we were expecting another baby. Now she's here and almost six months old. Time passes more quickly the older you get. I'm convinced. The kids are all growing so fast... Brandon had a ton of videos of baby Gemma on his phone and it was all I could do not to cry watching them. She was funny right from the start. It's easy to forget those moments when you are neck deep in three-nager attitude so I'm thankful for the millions of videos and pictures we'll have of these girls when they were sweet harmless little things! Brandon says the sass came from me... imagine that.

We picked up the big kids yesterday!! Gemma could barely hold it together on the drive to get them. I cannot wait to get started on all of our celebrating! There's a peace that comes when we're all together that coincides so beautifully with what Christmas is all about...  Christmas promises joy and renewal and at the end of a big year that's what we all need. I'm unendingly grateful for a God who holds my heart even when I am weary and discouraged and loves me anyway.

Here are a few things I'm really thankful for this week!

1. Spending my Christmas with all FOUR kids!

We alternate end of the year holidays so we only get them every other Christmas and sometimes it feels like we're missing years, not just months... Kids grow and change so fast. It can sometimes seem like we're picking up a totally different kid than the one we dropped off a month or two ago... This is Rue's first Christmas and I am really hoping it will be a special one for all of us!

2. Online Shopping Y'all!

I've heard that there are people who enjoy going from store to store fighting the crowds and the cold but I'm just not one of them... Amazon Prime is my friend. It might be a little crazy but I think every gift under our tree is from Amazon... I shopped... in cozy socks with bottomless cups of coffee. I'm confident I'll look back and say it was a VERY Merry Christmas! Also, I'm thankful for our mailman who has had to make countless special trips down our long driveway to deliver all of those packages... better go get him a gift......... from Amazon.

3. IKEA

Jaden had never been to IKEA before so we had to go, we picked up a few gifts for my younger siblings and she had a blast trying out all of the furniture... Gemma of course made herself right at home and asked to take a nap on one of the beds because "we've been walking all the days Momma..." It reminded me so well of how everything can become an adventure when you're a kid and if that isn't Christmas I don't know what is.

Tomorrow we have family pictures and I'm seriously dreading it... No one in this family knows how to smile like a normal person. We all cross our eyes and stick out our tongues or make horrified faces and those aren't so popular with the grandparents! We're gonna do our best tomorrow!

I hope you all have the best Christmas and get to spend lots of time with your families... There is nothing more important than our time together.

Merry Christmas!
Miranda
