Newborn Favorites

(so far...)

Rue is still so new so these are first impressions! I'm overjoyed to say that she sleeps and eats great! Breastfeeding has been way easier this time and I'm really enjoying it. The first weeks with Gemma were so turbulent and I was in a lot of pain trying to figure out the whole latch thing... Rue seems to know what to do without me correcting her and that's a pretty miraculous thing to witness. Babies are so cool.

She sleeps in three-four hour stretches so if we go to bed at midnight she wakes up about 4 and then again at 7 which is freaking awesome for now... Our first night home from the hospital she slept from midnight to 6am and I flipped out when I realized how long we'd all been sleeping.

Here are our newborn favorites!

I am inept when it comes to swaddling a baby. Especially with slippery muslin blankets... These blankets I can use though! She stays swaddled all night which is some kind of voodoo miracle. We came home with three of them! Hallelujah!

This stuff is awesome. It's a little more expensive than the standard baby lotion but it smells great and it's easy on baby's brand new skin. It's absorbs well and isn't greasy!

The last thing I want to do at 3 am is fumble with a million snaps on a baby outfit. The kid always ends up looking more like she's wearing a straight jacket than a cute outfit. Zippers are our friend.

My insurance covered the cost of my breast pump! I chose this one because I've heard so many good things about it and I'm really glad I did. It's virtually silent... Okay, maybe not silent but in our house quiet=silent so... It's easy to use, has a ton of features including a night light (!!) and is easy to clean.

This was my favorite baby purchase and I'm still really in love with it. There is just something about a new baby sleeping in a basket that gives you all the feels... For the price, you can't beat it! I do wish the stand was a little taller but it's definitely not a deal breaker!

6. Gumdrop Pacifiers
This is the only pacifier Rue will take so far... She's not a big fan of it but it's helped her fall asleep a few times. There have been a handful of super crazy moments where Gemma and Rue need me at the same time and this soothes Rue until I can get Gemma taken care of and calmed down. My nerves and emotions are a big fan of this pacifier...

XOXO
Miranda

P.S. I also have to mention this stuff because I'm pretty sure this is the entire reason breastfeeding has gone so well! It's amazing. So far we've used it as diaper cream and chapstick too... It's awesome stuff!
