More and more lately it has occurred to Brandon and I how fast Gemma is growing and also how it will only begin to happen faster after she becomes a big sister... Most of the things in her room (especially her bedding) she's had since birth. I really want to refresh her space before the new baby comes. There are tons of adorable and overpriced things for kids rooms. I love adorable, I hate overpriced.
Gemma sleeps in a loft and she has a toddler bed which we use her original crib bedding with... There is not really any one design idea for her space because Brandon and I have a bad habit of buying things we like without any real direction... That works really well in the rest of the house but in a kids space. Not so much.
Yesterday Gemma saw a nitro car and asked for one for her birthday! I told her what it was and she said No, Mom. It's a zoomer car with a mote control. I'm thinking a remote control car and some new bedding would make an excellent birthday gift!
Here are my (affordable) favorites!

Because her space is small (about 12' X 8.5') there's no extra room for furniture with a big footprint. Basically that means storage has to be small but just as efficient as it would in a normal space. Right now her books are in two stacks on the floor at the foot of her bed. It gets messy quickly. I like this geometric storage bin for bigger picture books and the smaller wire basket for board books. We have a pretty impressive children's library because we read so much. That's one thing we're not really willing to compromise on space wise. I like the bigger wicker basket for toys because it has a lid and makes for a much neater look (during the five seconds that her room is actually clean!)
I've always loved this color scheme and we've attempted it a few times but couldn't ever find pieces we loved that were age appropriate... The bedding, rug and throw pillows are all soft and would bring a lot of texture into the space...
I'm really crazy about this house shelf. I had a dollhouse when I was a kid and loved it so much. I love that this could be used for that or just for storing knick knacks like bows or small toys.
Lighting isn't a concern because there are three recessed lights in the area where the kids sleep and play. That frees up a little more floor space.
