There are tons of blog posts about must have baby gear but you really don't see that many for toddlers. I suppose they kind of just graduate out of a lot of the baby things we buy for them and onto something else... these are our "something else's"
This is really one of Gemma's favorite things. Before she was potty trained there was plenty of room for a diaper or two and a travel pack of wipes along with all of her little toys and knick knacks. Now that she doesn't need the diapers anymore she usually packs a book or two, a doll and as many snack as she can cram in there. They're just really cute and really well made. These little bags singlehandedly put me back in purse carrying territory! Enough said.
We got these as a gift from my sister ages ago and I've probably bought them again twice a year since then. They mysteriously disappear when mud pie time comes around every summer. Gemma likes to pick what color her plate and spoon or fork. They're also insanely cheap. Love that.
We bought this just before Gemma turned one and we have really loved it. Despite the ever present animal crackers smooshed in the seat, I like it a lot. I like the color and the fact the the cover comes off completely which honestly, doesn't make it any easier to clean but it's semi-convenient. I researched convertible car seats for months and months before I decided on this one. It had the best reviews and the best safety ratings. Done deal. Apparently there's a newer version of this that's even easier to use! Check it out here!
Getting a toddler to sit in a stroller while you are doing anything even slightly amusing is like a bad joke, but we like this one a lot. It folds like an umbrella stroller but it's much better. It's really sturdy, has the five point harness for those days when toddler wrangling is my full time job, and it's a lot taller than an umbrella stroller so Brandon isn't miserable pushing it although he rarely does because... it's bright PINK. Gemma and Jaden are big fans of the color. When the delivery guy dropped it off Jaden helped put the wheels on and then pushed Gemma around the house in it for an hour.
5. Toddler Bed
As you know we sleep in lofts at our house. Gemma's part of the kid's loft is almost 5 ft from floor to celiling at the peak because we really wanted her to be able to walk around and have a space to play and read. I also knew she wouldn't be able to sleep with her mattress on the floor of the loft like the rest of us. We tried that for about two weeks and she never woke up on her mattress but always in a mound of blankets and stuffed animals on the floor. I knew a toddler bed would fit and work for her but I had the hardest time finding one we even remotely liked. This one is so cute and they grey went well in the house. We bought this for her after her birthday! (thanks to everyone who gave her birthday money!, you bought her bed!) She loved it then and loves it now. We'd always planned to go straight from a baby bed to a twin size but I'm glad we didn't. Maybe, it's just one more way I can keep her little... for now.
I didn't put Gemma's Latt Table on this list because I've talked about it so much lately but it really has also become a toddler necessity for us. It gave her a bit of independence which both of us love and hate. She spends hours at it everyday, it was well worth the price and effort to paint it.
Okay, that's all I've got. I'd love to hear feedback about your favorite toddler products!
XOXO
Miranda
